Flight EK418 from Dubai to Bangkok was the only flight on the borad that was delayed. After embarking almost all people on the 777 waited in vain for their luggage, which had not bveen loaded on the plane. Despite the unlikeliness that the crew wouldnot have known that almost all luggage was not on board, the passengers were not informed.
Also after arrival nothing was said so they waited at the luggage line for ages, until the sign last bag unloaded had been posted and some of the passengers went for a search.
The handling agent for Emirates in Bangkok is BFS, BAngkok Flight Services, who openend a counter with initially one girl. Everybody had to fill in a substantial form. Soon the forms for lost baggage ran out and they started using a form which is meant for damaged baggage,
After standing in line for a long time and having obtained the forms, the people had to stand in another line to hand over the filled in forms and the baggage receipts. By that time staff was added to four people.
Many of the passengers were very angry about the mistake made, but especially about the inefficient way these passengers were helped after long flights without being able to warn the waiting drivers and family waiting in the arrival hall of which some went as the plane had landed for several hours without the passengers showing up.
We got a "damaged Luggage form on which the AFS girl had written her own mobile number and a Bangkok Land line, promising she would pick up the phone at all times. The form had no space to fill in a forwarding address, so our friends and family in Thailand helped us to call the numbers but for two days now we have not been able to coime trough. 02-134-2913 and 081-835-8028
We tried to find contact details for AFS and were not capable of contacting any usefull person of Emirates. Emirates has a tracking system promising to tell you the whereabouts of any piece of luggage. Sadly you had to fill in a 10 gigure code which was not on the form or anywhere else to be found.
We have managed to file an online complaint and cry for help, but until now the only message is that they will answer as soon as possible.
Today we are going to spend the whole day to purchse cloths and the rare medicines we need and will try again to contact the two numbers.
If there is anybody out there who can help, please respond to this blog
